Scooter's, Seattle

With the almighty Zesto's
throwing in the towel and slated for demolition sometime in 2001,
Scooter's and Gordo's
are left to battle it out for control of Ballard's burger business.
Not much more than a well-maintained shack, Scooter's isn't much
of a destination, but their hefty burgers pack a punch of true
burger quality. With all the expected combinations, and a couple of
unique offerings, Scooter's puts to shame the chain restaurants'
and, some would argue, Dick's
comparatively bite-size burgers.
A respectable offering of fish and chips is also on the menu (it
is Ballard), along with a variety of healthy-sized sandwiches
and, of course, thick, fattening shakes.
There are five or six chairs inside, but the view of 24th and the
QFC parking lot isn't much to keep you entertained, so this is
really a pit-stop on the way home, to the Locks or to Golden Gardens
just around the corner.
