The George & Dragon Pub, Seattle

Suitably dingy and
unsophisticated, the George & Dragon is one of the best
representations of a bonafide English pub Seattle has to offer. Less
interested with the tourist kitsch that gives downtown's Elephant
& Castle its somewhat strained discomort, the George &
Dragon instead occupies itself with pulling a good pint, watching
the soccer (remember, though, it's football in there) and trading
banter with the locals.
The decor is authentic (complete with that classically British
musty pub odor), the food faithful (homestyle favorites like
shepard's pie and pot roast are served Monday through Saturday) and
the pints -- including Guinness, naturally -- no-nonsense. A rubgy
or soccer match will usually be on in the background (or in the
foreground depending on the time of year), as well as classic pub
fare like dart boards.
A genuine experience -- and you can take that as gospel from this
British ex-pat.
