At
the time of The Nutcracker's premiere in 1872 St. Petersburg, who would
have thought that the critical drubbing and disappointment of Tchaikovsky
would later blossom to become world adoration? Undoubtedly one of the world's
most popular productions, and a cornerstone of any cultured Christmas season,
"The Nutcracker" has perhaps become best known for its productions by the
Pacific Northwest Ballet right here in Seattle, which has been winning
hearts with the swash-buckling fairy tale since 1983.
With costumes from the father of the children's beastly classic "Where
The Wild Things Are" (Maurice Sendak) and props designed by Boeing engineers,
including a seventeen-foot Mouse King puppet and a huge Christmas tree that grows
from fourteen feet to twenty eight feet, this production promises to not only recall fond
memories of childhood productions but to capture a whole new generation
of fans.
Prices
range from $17 - $77 and the fun begins December 3rd. Tickets to "The Nutcracker" are available from Tickets.com
