High-brow brain food seems to be the meal du jour in Seattle, with the
eclectically energetic Karamazov Brothers mixing up Einstein's theories
in their own rabidly entertaining way in "L'Universe,"
and now with Annex Theatre's "Einstein's Dreams."
Drawing
inspiration from the Alan Lightman book, "Einstein's Dreams" conjures a world
of time and space before you, presenting a visual and cranial treat that
fictionalizes the legendary scientists' formulation of the theory of relativity.
Like
"L'Universe," both the senses and the mind are kept busy and entertained
with the flurry of movement on stage through the use of on-screen displays
and creative set design. In "Einstein's Dreams," the locale is the Temple
of Time, centered with a symbol of one of Einstein's move beloved topics:
a giant pendulum.
Fans
of time theory and Einstein in general will draw enjoyment from the imagination
of Lightman's and director Mark Gallagher's creation, and the rest of us
may well leave scratching our heads, but gosh darn it if you don't want
to go find out what in the hell that was all about afterwards.
Einstein's
Dreams runs till March 11, and $7 - $12 tickets are available by calling
(206) 728 0933.
